Going to New Zealand? Get Your NZ Sim Card!

February 14, 2020 //  by Geoff

Aside from picturesque tourist destinations and Rugby, New Zealand is known for its love of art and architecture, so much so that they created “The Beehive.” The Beehive is situated at the heart of New Zealand’s capital, Wellington. What is so special about this particular structure? It’s the place where the nation’s administrative operations are held. What’s interesting about it is its uniqueness and excellent architectural design, which is not something to be expected from a parliamentary house.

Te Papa is NZ’s National Museum located in Wellington’s waterfront, and it’s not something that one might want to miss. Another notable fact about Wellington is that it’s situated in an active fault line known as the Pacific Ring of Fire. The idea of an earthquake is terrifying. But as scary as it may sound, people who live in this part of the country can barely feel the tremors as it’s too far underground.

How NZ Travellers Connect

Every year, millions of people from all walks of life visit NZ. According to statistics, at least 45% of New Zealand’s tourists come from Australia. This information is not so surprising given the fact that Australia is only four to five hours away from NZ.

Another reason is that Australian citizens don’t need visas to visit the country, which means it’s a lot easier for them to book a ticket to NZ as compared to people from other nations. Since most of the tourist population of New Zealand is made up of Aussies, what are the products and services available to them?

Travelling away from family and friends to places unknown can still be scary, no matter if it’s the first time or not. In this case, constant communication is vital. But how can a person communicate with someone who’s outside of New Zealand?

Tools for Communication

Almost everyone who travels or goes abroad has a mobile phone or laptop with them; this is because it’s portable and a lot easier to use. Since mobile phones require an NZ sim card to work, how do tourists in New Zealand use them?

Sure, most telecommunications companies offer roaming services that tourists can avail of to contact other people from their home country. But the service rates and fees are too high. So what’s the best option in this scenario?

Sim Cards for NZ Tourists

Each country has its network of telecommunication companies that offer a variety of products like mobile phone units, sim cards, post-paid plans, and for tourists, roaming services. There are lots of mobile phone shops available in every corner of the country, but it’s not convenient for NZ first-timers to go around the entire city looking for these shops to find NZ sim cards instead of enjoying the tour.

The easiest and fastest way is by purchasing sim cards ahead of time to avoid such hassles. But where can travellers purchase sim cards that would work within New Zealand without the added roaming charges?

How To Get Your NZ Sim Cards?

There are three variations of sim cards: Standard, Micro, and Nano sim. International and local customers can purchase any type of sim card that would fit their phone, and they immediately work the moment it’s plugged in. The sim cards include call, text, and data services, and customers can order them online through various websites that offer such services.

All they have to do is fill the order form with complete information such as full name, delivery address, and contact number. Once the order form has been successfully submitted, the customers can expect their sim cards to be delivered to them by mail within seven days for standard deliveries and 1-3 days through express delivery.

Some websites even offer a money-back guarantee which can provide refunds to customers who had bad experiences with the product or those who were not satisfied with the service. Now that’s customer service excellence!
