When many visitors think about Manhattan, they envision strolling through Central Park. It’s an iconic place that looks even better in person than it does in countless movies and TV shows. At Arlo Hotel NYC, we love having Central Park as our collective “backyard” and encourage our guests to explore the park during any season. Here are some of our highlights for guests that want to spend most of their day in the most famous park in the world.
Feel like a local by taking a morning run in Central Park. The park is open at six and is so expansive that you can run two miles or twenty with ease. After the run stop by one of the area’s coffee shops for some baked goods and then stroll back to our hotel for a relaxing shower.
Before and after lunch, visit the Belvedere Castle which is on top of a hill and gives you a great view of the trees and city. You can also stop by Strawberry Fields to pay homage to John Lennon, and then enjoy lunch at the Bethesda Terrace where you’ll discover some of the best food trucks in the city. Stop by The Pond to get a glimpse of the wildlife that lives within the park and take a moment to slow down and appreciate nature within the urban landscape. There are more than 210 bird species that live in (or stop by) the park, and bird watching is a favorite activity for many locals.
If you’re visiting during winter, then you can top off an evening with skating at Wollman Rink, located in the southern part of the park. It’s a great way to experience an outdoor (socially distanced) activity while enjoying some hot cocoa and the city lights.
