Here in Boston, MA there is a big issue with parking in the center of the city with spaces highly limited and many parking garages which aren’t fit for purpose. The parking garage I use here in Boston, MA is Dock Square parking garage, easily the best in the city and one which does all of the basics right, as well as offering a few extras. The parking garage is central and well priced and when I leave my car here I know that it will be well looked after, which is more than I can say for many others here in Boston, MA. I have had some very poor experiences with these garages in the past and so I wanted to share with you some warning signs that the parking garage which you are using may not be up to scratch.
Competitive Costs
Car parking will cost different prices whether you are living here in Boston, MA or in Miami, Fl but at the very least they should be competitive within the same city. What often happens however is that you find these inner-city parking garages who have no competition within a few miles, and so they think that they can charge whatever they like. Get an idea of what prices you are being charged in your city, and make sure that the garage which you use is competitive, and not over-priced.
Damages
If a car has been damaged in a parking garage then word starts to spread pretty quickly, especially in this age of social media, and that is a clear warning sign about the garage. Accidents can always happen of course but if you hear of more than one instance where a car has been damaged, then you probably shouldn’t be leaving your car with them anymore. The very least you should expect from a parking garage is that they look after your car and if they can’t do that then they don’t deserve your service.
Space
Something else which I have seen with some parking garages here in Boston, MA is that they slowly begin to reduce the sizes of the spaces in the garage, which can make parking very tough. Many garages do this in order to make more money but the consequence of it is a heightened probability that you will get bumped and you may even get yourself blocked in. One of the things that I love about Dock Square parking garage is that they have different sized spaces depending on the size of your car. This is ideal for me as I just have a small city car, and I know that people would get frustrated if they saw me in occupying a large space. If the spaces start getting smaller in the garage that you are using then this too is a warning sign that you shouldn’t be using them any more.
Parking garages should offer ample space, good prices and most importantly, security for your vehicle, just like Dock Square do.
