Dealing with Nuisance Calls through Reverse Phone Searches

December 14, 2018 //  by Geoff

Many people these days experience nuisance calls on a regular basis. Now that so many of us have cell phones, the problem has become even worse, with people now receiving nuisance calls on both their cell phones and landlines. Whether you run a business and are operating a business phone or you are receiving nuisance calls on your personal number, it can be very distressing.

Nuisance calls can come in many different forms. Some people receive nuisance calls from companies who are cold-calling in a bid to try and sell them something. Others receive nuisance calls from unknown numbers and cell phones. And in some cases the calls can even be abusive rather than merely a nuisance. While the odd call may not be too bad, if you get them on a daily basis you may have cause for complaint.

What You Can Do about Nuisance Calls

So, what can you do if you receive nuisance calls from businesses, cell phones, or unknown callers? Well, one of the first things to do is try to identify the caller, which you can do pretty easily online. Using a reverse phone lookup tool makes it easy to determine who has been calling you. Even if the number is from a cell phone, you can still find the owner’s identity when you use a cell phone number search tool. You can also conduct a search on numbers that are listed as private.

Once you have carried out the search and retrieved further details about the caller, you can then look at taking further action. This will depend on the type of calls you have been receiving. In some cases, such as nuisance sales calls from businesses, you can file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, as they are committed to taking action with regards to nuisance calls. However, if you have been receiving calls on your smart device that are abusive in nature, you may want to consider contacting the authorities so they can investigate further.

If the nuisance calls you are receiving come from businesses, you should initially ask them to stop calling you and ask for your details to be removed from their database. They should comply with this but, of course, not all businesses do this. In some cases, you may find that you continue to receive calls from the business even after you have asked them to stop calling you. If this happens, you should make sure you not only determine which company has been calling but also make a note of the dates and times they continue to call after you have asked them to stop. This information can then be used by the relevant agencies and authorities to help put a stop to the nuisance calls.

By taking these simple steps, you can ensure your personal or business numbers are not blocked up with regular unwanted calls, and you can eliminate the stress of receiving nuisance calls.
