For any college online reviews which have been left by current or past students are very important and they can influence whether or not students decide to attend that college. It is for this reason why action was taken when the AMDA college and conservatory of the performing arts reviews were of particular concern a few years back when they were not as positive as they wanted them to be. At this time the college was receiving rave reviews from the education community and their results were increasing, so they couldn’t quite understand why they were so poor. The team took action and eventually managed to bring their reviews in line with how they felt the college was doing, and here is how they did it.
Head On
Although the team didn’t agree with a lot of the negativity that was being written about the college they still had to look into the negative feedback in order to identify whether or not it was true. In most cases it wasn’t but they still looked at individual areas of the college and sought to improve them even further. For example there were some comments on there about not preparing the students well enough for the difficulty which a career in the arts held for the students, and so they began a new program aimed at this.
Encouragement
The college wanted a broader spectrum of reviews rather than the handful which had been left about them and so they put out a plea to all students to leave reviews about the college. They didn’t try and persuade anyone to leave a positive review, they simply wanted to know that they were getting an accurate picture of how students were feeling. Within a month of doing this the reviews and star rating of the college began to improve, showing that the original comments may not have been entirely accurate.
Showing Off
Something which the board and the teachers agreed that they had not been doing well enough was celebrating success which the college had and showing off just how good both they and their students were. This was communicated to everyone across the college, in both their New York and their Los Angeles campuses and they began to work harder on reminding the students about the successes of this wonderful college.
Monitoring
The guys at the college conceded that they hadn’t been on the front foot with their reviews until it was too late and they vowed not to let that happen again. With this in mind the reviews now form part of the responsibility of the recruitment and admissions team, to monitor these reviews and take action if things don’t add up.
Many institutions simply accept their reviews and roll with it and I love the fact that AMDA took action after disagreeing with what was being said about them, a good lesson for any college.
